Well my Canada Day journal is a day late but that's because I was busy enjoying Canada Day!
First,
j4m1350n graduated from high school on Thursday -- yay! This family is now officially through with the public school system! He's only now recovering from three days' debauchery, but conducted himself admirably: maximum fun/minimum trouble -- including showing up for work when he felt like calling in "sick".
RobynTheArtRat is churning out all kinds of amazing artwork, and holding down a job too! We recently put up two of her paintings around the house -- a huge self-portrait done with all kinds of paint daubs, giving it a mosaic effect. I want her to enter it in the MSVU Community Art show this year. And the combination lock painting that she got a Daily Deviation for is going up near the pool table, because it's the same shade of green.
My friends, Gilles and Stephen tied the knot! They decided to take the plunge before the Harper government repeals the same-sex marriage laws. The reception was, appropriately, on Canada Day, in their exquisitely landscaped back yard, all decorated for the occasion. Picture this: miniature disco balls hanging from the trees, a bubble machine sending out clouds of bubbles that sparkled in the sunshine, and a huge floral centrepiece featuring driftwood, greens, flowers and a cauliflower (somehow it worked).
The food was amazing, of course. My favourite: white chocolate/toasted almond macaroons! And of course, champagne with strawberries floating in it.
Speaking of champagne, I awoke with a terrible headache this morning but cured it with painkillers, a brisk jog to the lake and a swim, followed by another jog to the Tim Horton's for an Ice Cap. This formula has never been known to fail. Brucie came with me (he had a headache too!).
Well, one more day off then back to work. Have a good one, everybody! And happy 4th of July to all my American friends!
