This survey is called "The Proust Questionnaire" (yes, by the famous writer - he wrote it when he was a teenager). They interview a celebrity with it in every issue of Vanity Fair magazine. I'm still considering my responses. Give it a try!

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Where would you like to live?

What is your idea of earthly happiness?

To what faults do you feel most indulgent?

Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?

Who are your favorite characters in history?

Who are your favorite heroines in real life?

Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?

Your favorite painter?

Your favorite musician?

The quality you most admire in a man?

The quality you most admire in a woman?

Your favorite virtue?

Your favorite occupation?

Who would you have liked to be?

Well, it's hard to believe, but as of today I have only one month left at the art gallery. I'm through on May 4 and plan to take the summer to slack off/upgrade my French, then I'm off to NSCC in the fall, to study PR.

I'm a bit ambivalent about leaving -- part of me can't get out of there fast enough and part of me will miss the people I work with, and all the artists I've gotten to know. Today we reviewed a new batch of exhibition proposals and two of them were so exciting I'm sorry I won't be around to help make them happen. Oh well -- I can still visit.

It's a good time to leave, though -- the latest show was a huge success and everybody's real, real happy right now. Time to move on!

Well, the 35th Annual MSVU Community Show opening reception was the best ever, thanks in no small part to HFXmermaid, who played guitar and sang, accompanied by her main squeeze on rhythm! She sang four songs, including one that she composed about being Gallery Attendant, as well as a very poignant tribute to her dear friend, who died not so long ago. The fact that she did four numbers encouraged our Argentine Tango dancers to do a fourth as well, which turned out to be their best. The university President was there (an unexpected surprise), as was the Vice-President Academic, and they were mightily impressed.

Check out HFXmermaid's journal entry here: raine-angel.deviantart.com/jou…

You have until December 17th to get over to the gallery, take a look at all the art (including a beautiful entry by RobynTheArtRat, who also has work in the Dalhousie Art Gallery show: artgallery.dal.ca/exhibitions/…) and get yourself a cookie.

Over and out,

Well my Canada Day journal is a day late but that's because I was busy enjoying Canada Day!

First, j4m1350n graduated from high school on Thursday -- yay! This family is now officially through with the public school system! He's only now recovering from three days' debauchery, but conducted himself admirably: maximum fun/minimum trouble -- including showing up for work when he felt like calling in "sick".

RobynTheArtRat is churning out all kinds of amazing artwork, and holding down a job too! We recently put up two of her paintings around the house -- a huge self-portrait done with all kinds of paint daubs, giving it a mosaic effect. I want her to enter it in the MSVU Community Art show this year. And the combination lock painting that she got a Daily Deviation for is going up near the pool table, because it's the same shade of green.

My friends, Gilles and Stephen tied the knot! They decided to take the plunge before the Harper government repeals the same-sex marriage laws. The reception was, appropriately, on Canada Day, in their exquisitely landscaped back yard, all decorated for the occasion. Picture this: miniature disco balls hanging from the trees, a bubble machine sending out clouds of bubbles that sparkled in the sunshine, and a huge floral centrepiece featuring driftwood, greens, flowers and a cauliflower (somehow it worked).

The food was amazing, of course. My favourite: white chocolate/toasted almond macaroons! And of course, champagne with strawberries floating in it.

Speaking of champagne, I awoke with a terrible headache this morning but cured it with painkillers, a brisk jog to the lake and a swim, followed by another jog to the Tim Horton's for an Ice Cap. This formula has never been known to fail. Brucie came with me (he had a headache too!).

Well, one more day off then back to work. Have a good one, everybody! And happy 4th of July to all my American friends!
